With a Marketing Budget, the business creates App Downloads generating App Download Fees. A share of App Downloads converts into Activated Players generating ARPU for a specific lifetime. By cross-selling addons, a share of Activated Players become Engaged Players generating additional ARPU.

Tutorial Structure

Add Rev Stream "Downloads"

  1. Add Forecast Monthly Marketing Budget
  2. Add Cost per Lead

Add Rev Stream "Launches"

Add One-Time Rev Stream (Generic Lifetime) and set

  1. Contract Lifetime to 7 months
  2. App Download Fee 5$
  3. No of units to 1 but only for 1st month of lifetime (use spreadsheet widget via table icon)
  4. Your Revenue Share (remainder goes to app-store)
  5. Billing Date to "At End of Period" (Money at end of Period)

Assuming only 90% of users downloading and paying for the app actually install it

  • Add Conversion Rule between Rev Stream "Downloads" and "Launches" with Conversion rate of 90% and no time delay (set to 0)

Add Rev Stream "Activated Player"

Add One-Time Rev Stream (Generic Lifetime) and set

  1. Contract Lifetime to 7 months
  2. ARPU to $3
  3. No of units to 1 for entire lifetime
  4. Your Revenue Share to 70% (remainder goes to app-store)
  5. Billing Date to "At End of Period" (Money at end of Period)

Typically, only a small percentage of players who launch an app convert into Activated Players:

  • Add Conversion Rule between Rev Stream "Launches" and "Activated Players" with Conversion of 30% and no time delay (set to 0)

Add Rev Stream "Engaged Player"

Assuming that 20% of Activated Players are becoming Engaged and on-top of ARPU as Activated Players buy add-ons using cross-selling mechanisms (for even 12 months)

  • Add ARPU to $10 
  • Set Lifetime to 12 months
  • Add Cross-Selling Forecast linking rev stream "Activated Player" and "Engaged Player" setting cross-selling rate to 20 %

Save new Scenario "Forecast All Cohorts"

Save New Scenario via Action Menu "Forecast All Cohorts"

Switch to new Scneario

Extend Forecast so that Marketing Budget covers entire business plan period (e.g. from Jan 2020 to Dec 2024)
